Who has caught what species this year? and future comp suggestion.

Post by Want to catch on Mon Sep 07, 2009 1:50 am

A. Just wondering who has caught what species (including sea, fresh and game species) this year.
I have caught the following:

2009 Sea shore species: Whiting, 3 Bearded Rockling, Shore Rockling, Codling, Conger, Sole, Flounder, Thornback Ray, Bass, Pollock, Ballan Wrasse, Poor Cod.

2009 Sea boat species: Whiting, Conger, Pouting, Topknot, Dogfish.

2009 Freshwater species: Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Dace, Freshwater Eel.

2009 Game species: Nothing yet!

B. Was also thinking we could have a mini comp amongst ourselves in 2010?

£10 all in entry per person for all categories.

Prizes for:
1. Highest total number of species (all venues) (50% of prize fund).
2. Biggest course fish (as a % of official record of country you are in) (12.5% of prize fund).
3. Biggest game fish (as a % of official record of country you are in) (12.5% of prize fund).
4. Biggest shore caught sea fish (as a % of official record of country you are in) (12.5% of prize fund).
5. Biggest boat caught sea fish (as a % of official record of country you are in) (12.5% of prize fund).

Rules:
i. Only fish caught with rod and line count.
ii. Fish that can be caught in either saline or fresh water count only once.
iii. All down to trust so best to get scales calibrated if possible. I know all 3 of my sets of scales are different!
iv. Catch as many fish as possible and enjoy yourself.

So who is in?

Should not be too complicated.

1. Biggest fish categories- You record and weigh the fish then tell me species, weight, category (boat/shore/course/game). The I compare the weight with the British records, or other if caught elsewhere. At the end of 2010 I look to see who is top in each category.

2. You make a note of which species you have caught and let me know your final list at the end of 2010. Obviously we could have an update throughout the year to keep it interesting?

Who has caught what this year?

yes that seems all ok alex, good idea, by the way i got 112lb conger yesterday and my scales dont lie like me lol
but yes seriously i like the idea and as wayne said you can run it as you dont seem to do much at work anyway. cant think about all my species to date but i will have a little think. we cpuld all keep our species and best weight tally in our signatures for all to see, which is prob easier for us to amend when we can instead of pushing it all to alex

True, will pretty much run itself then.

Will get a list of records up so we can calculate our own %.

I guess we use the record list from the start of the year (incase anybody, not just us catches a record fish!)

Have changed it on my profile and previewed it is fine, but it doesn't show up now (unless it is very slow to update and suddenly appears now!).
